For rational people, the image of an innocent child invokes the picture of a youngster unfamiliar with the ways of the world and dependent on their parents for love and guidance.
Apparently, the political Left has images of a 17-year-old thug with truancy issues fully capable of performing a mixed martial arts “ground & pound” on an adult male. It is amusing to watch the Left attempt to cover a story reportedly about George Zimmerman’s paranoia and end up making the story about themselves.
At issue is the fact that George Zimmerman and his family continue to live in fear of reprisal over the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. Police originally considered the matter an act of self-defense, but angry protesters compelled the state to file murder charges against Zimmerman. Ultimately, a jury of his peers acquitted him.
This has left the Zimmerman family essentially pariahs with particular emphasis on George Zimmerman. The constant drumbeat of death threats by angry protestors, and the negative coverage in the press has taken a toll on Zimmerman. His own father now claims his son is so paranoid about his life being in danger that if federal agents where to bust down his door, he would likely shot three or more of them.
Despite the psychological toll, the Left seems to believe that Zimmerman has nothing to be concerned about. They view his paranoia as the logical extension of his belief in the right to bear arms and for having gotten away with murdering an innocent child chewing away at a bag of skittles.
