Right Wing violence in the United States is in the forefront of the news again after trash bin fire in Dallas resulted in a few unsettling moments. An armed man lured fire-rescue personnel into an open area and fired shots at them.
The gunman shot their truck twice and the rattled men were able to make it to a wooded area and call for additional personnel. The armed man was quick to accept responsibility and actually called 911 on his own to confess to the act.
The man told operators he was with a group that belongs to the Sovereign citizen’s movement.
Before setting the fire and shooting at the firemen, police say the gunman also threatened a babysitter, who ran into a nearby home and hid in a safe place with the 8-year-old child she was caring for.
Radical right-wing groups refuse to respect the authority of the federal government, and are responsible for other terroristic-like acts including the Oklahoma City Bombing and the Bundy Ranch episode and now visible around the U.S.-Mexico border. The episode in Dallas has once again reminded officials that it would be wrong to let down their guard in relation to Right Wing radicals.
