An organization called EatRight.Org agrees with the government. They state that raw egg does carry a risk for salmonella. They also site the 2009 recall of raw cookie dough from the Nestle Corporation. The Nestle cookie dough made many people ill from E. coli.

In fact, a woman died died in 2013 from eating raw cookie dough. She died from E. coli poisoning. They further warn that young children are especially susceptible to salmonella poisoning. This group encourages parents to avoid letting their children eat raw cookie dough.

The U.S. government and EatRight.Org both warn people to avoid eating raw cookie dough. Others argue raw cookie dough is harmless. The choice of eating uncooked cookie dough is up to every individual person. However, eating it may not be worth the risk.
