What This First Grader Did After Finding Out His Best Friend Has Cancer Has Me Speechless

The friendship between first graders, Zac Gossage and Vincent Butterfield, is one that is of the strongest and truest kinds.

Zac Gossage received a diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia which is a cancer that can develop rapidly. Zac was very brave when he was diagnosed and continued to attend school as much as his illness would allow as well as keep up his play dates with his friend Vincent.

Vincent Butterfield has a very caring heart toward his friend. When he found out about Zac’s condition, he began selling scarves made by his mom to help raise money for Zac’s medical bills. But his concern and compassion for his friend went even further. Vincent did not want Zac to be bald alone so he shaved his head, too.

This was something that he could do to show his best friend his support. It was a way to stand by him and show support.

This was an amazing gesture of kindness for a young boy. Vincent shaved his head as a surprise for Zac. He wore a stocking cap to school to hide what he had done until it was time to reveal his kind deed. Vincent says his friendship with Zac is a beautiful thing and how very true that is.
