Cats are not hard to read. Their disdain for we humans, their personal slaves, is quite obvious. Arrogance is their birthright. Dogs seem to be quite the opposite … I think.
In this video, two remarkably similar looking chaps begin to sing their favorite song. Presumably, given their knowledge of the lyrics, they have done this many times before. Their dog, who starts out with an expression of ambivalence, listens for a few minutes, expressionless.
Maybe this breed of dog is by nature incapable of facial nuances, but his deadpan face adds to the humor of the piece. He then begins to howl, slowly at first, then building volume. Is he enjoying this camaraderie, and so wishes to be a participant with his human pack-mates? Does the sound of their singing voices hurt his hears? I’m not judging, I’m just saying…
At the end of the sequence, kisses are exchanged between dog and human as a touching finale. The musically gifted dog even seems to smile (if you believe dogs have facial expressions). So, after viewing this amusing and touching video depicting the loving bond between man and his “best friend” I asked myself “Did that dog really enjoy and approve of all this frivolity, or was he merely attempting to drown the men out?”
