A wonderful old tune is given new life in this inspiring performance. The World Outreach Church and percussion group Stickyard came together to perform a classic Christian praise song. As the drums are rolled out, the audience might be asking each other what they have gotten themselves into!
Stickyard is known for a more unorthodox use of rock ‘n’ roll in their religious remixes that might invoke disapproving glances in some circles, but surely only by those who have never heard them play. They bring to the church a fresh take on an old classic and infuse it with new meaning as they respectfully worship with the church.
As the song proceeds, the drummers switch and swap drums so that they end up playing big bass drums, snares, smaller hand held drums and even a pipe drum. This variety lends a great deal of added emotion and excitement to what some might consider an old and overdone song. Paired with a small choir and a strong male lead, the song is a hit with the audience and should be with anyone who hears it.
The underlying drum beats form an exciting backdrop as the singers belt out the standard chorus and verses.
