Norfolk resident Ronan Parke competed in the fifth series for Britain’s Got Talent back in 2011 when he was only twelve years old. In the finale that summer, Parke appeared for the third time before the judges and performed Kelly Clarkson’s “Because of You.”
Parke’s talent can’t be denied, and this video shows why he was so well-loved by the judges and the audience. Yet it also reveals more than Parke’s amazing voice. If you keep watching behind him as he sings, you will see that Parke succeeded where even some professional singers fail: He harmonized perfectly with a choir that joined him mid-way through the song.
His voice never cracked, and he didn’t lose any notes or words. Instead his voice and theirs blended together in a way that created one of the most beautiful versions of “Because of You” ever performed. After Parke finished and the choir left the stage, every judge spoke of how amazed they were by his talent.
His performance was so spectacular and his rendition so perfect that Louis Walsh from The X Factor, who was in the audience that night and referred to by Simon Cowell, said Parke made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up.
Although Parke lost the competition by taking second place, he has since made the Top 50 on several charts. This video shows why the judges felt from the start that he had a bright future ahead of him in music.
