In Clint Eastwood’s 2008 smash hit “Gran Torino”, he confronts a group of unruly street thugs who were in the process of accosting a young Asian girl enjoying a simple walk to the record shop with her boyfriend. The character of Walt Kowalski, played by Eastwood, pulls up his 1950s era Chevrolet pickup and steps out of the car. He recalls to the young men’s memory what the painful consequences are of interfering with the wrong person using a verb that rhymes with “trucking”. He then coldly says: “I am that guy”.
Well, in this CCTV footage, you will watch an average height older man that could well have been in his fifties. He is being accosted by an inebriated broad chested young adult man that easily towers over him.
Two other henchmen stand by watching. Eventually, the situation escalates to blows. However, the hoodlums don’t realize the man standing before them is the wrong guy with which to pick a fight. The man clocks the first thug in the face. While he struggles to regain his footing, the second hoodlum steps in and gets a dose of the same old school medicine.
Finally, the first hoodlum comes back and throws a punch straight at the man who easily blocks it. The man then gives the thug a knuckle sandwich at which time the thug falls flat on his back. Had he been in the ring, the referee would have been counting to ten. Hopefully, the experience taught the men to respect their elders, and hopefully drink less alcohol.
