A video on the internet has currently gone viral about three abandoned kittens being adopted and cared for by a motherly beagle. In July of 2014 at an animal shelter in Jasper, Georgia the three kittens were brought to the shelter and placed with the beagle. Once the canine and felines were placed together they instantly bonded.
The kittens really enjoy being with their new mother even though she is a dog.
The name of the dog is Mary and workers at the shelter claim that she has bonded with the animals very quickly. Mary takes care of her own puppies as well as nursing the kittens. While this is not the first case of an animal caring for another breed this is still an unusual case since cats and dogs are not the best of friends.
Workers at the Jasper animal shelter spend time with this new mom and her offspring. They make sure that the kittens and their mom Mary is given excellent care.
The pets are kept in a heated cage where Mary can easily provide care for her new found children. They are expected to remain in the shelter for some time until the kittens get older.
