I think one of the scariest things a person can do is go into an emergency situation to save someone else without a thought to their own life. Fires are especially dangerous because there are so many things to worry about that can go wrong; smoke inhalation, fire escalating to worse than it was when you entered, ceilings falling in, rooms crumbling.
It is all so dangerous, and to not give any of those a second thought and to just go right in to save a child is one of the biggest sacrifices one can make.
This firefighter went into the smoke, possibly fire, and never gave it a second thought. He knew the risks he was taking and never missed a beat. He not only did this selfless act once, but went right back in to do it again.
He never once worried about himself and the risks he was taking. All he cared about were those children. The minute he heard there were children inside, he immediately went into action. Luckily, everything worked out for everyone involved and everyone was okay in the end, but it doesn’t always work out that way.
We need to be thankful that we have selfless people who don’t care about the risks and take these risks anyway, all in the name of saving others, and appreciate the sacrifices their families make allowing them to do their job every day. I hope and pray that there are special angels who look out over them.
