VIDEO: They Stumbled Upon This Lonely Dog, What Happened Next Had Me In Tears

Buddy the dog sat in a huge field located outside of Bakersfield, CA waiting for his people to come back for him. After five long months of waiting and still no family, a woman came forward in an effort to move Buddy to a safe place until a new forever home could be found. After seeing Buddy and his story on the local news in Novmber of 2012, Annette made it her business to find the dog whom she since named, Buddy.

In January 2013 the woman set out to lure the dog out of the field. The huge agricultural field appeared fallow with nothing in eye-shot but for a dog sitting perhaps fifty feet in. Annette Puskarich spent the next two days, with video camera, attempting to gently lure the dog, Buddy out of the field. Several others had tried and failed in their attempts to move the dog out. Annette persisted in her efforts and would not permit the dog to make the wrong final decision.

As she got closer, Annette was successful in feeding Buddy directly from her hands. She was sure she had made a new friend. But each time she clipped the leash onto Buddy’s collar urging him out of the field, Buddy resisted. He ate through several leashes. He would not leave. Just before the end of the day, Annette removed the dog’s food planning for the following day, ensuring he would be hungry when she returned.

The next day the hungry dog remembered his new friend but once again resisted her efforts and ate through the leash. Finally Annette called in or reinforcements. She couldn’t carry the dog herself. She needed help to get Buddy out of the field. When help arrived they were successful in removing Buddy from the field.

The look in his eyes as if he was waiting for someone remained. He continued to resist but now he was over-powered, for lack of other alternatives. When checked out Buddy was found to be in remarkably good shape, under the circumstances. His thick beautiful fur had barbed wire embedded in the tail section. But once cleaned up and cared for, he was a new dog. The only thing left is to find Buddy that special home, forever.
