Jon Stewart has never been known for giving Dick Cheney a free pass, but he lost it against the former Vice President during a recent episode of “The Daily Show.” In scathing fashion, the ex-Veep’s stance on Iran was thoroughly eviscerated by the Comedy Central host.
This clip aired after a year long hiatus of even mentioning Cheney on the program. Stewart simply couldn’t ignore the vitriolic comments being spewed by the politician. The Halliburton CEO went on air with Hugh Hewitt to state that Obama was leaving a massive burden for his successor by opening the door to a nuclear Iran.
Stewart’s rebuttal was not kind. For example, the ingenious rant started by calling Cheney a “jagged toothed forest demon who steals children.” The host even donned a detective cap and pipe to maximize the sleuthing effect.
Once he got on topic, Jon’s points were brutally accurate. By using archival footage, Stewart uncovered the truth about Cheney’s statements. It turns out that the defense contractor is being disingenuous in his latest attacks on Obama. During a 1998 testimony, Cheney lamented his inability to trade weapons with Iran due to a “sactions-happy” administration. Now it appears that Dick is on the other side of the coin.
Here is the epic crux of the matter: According to Cheney, anyone that works with Iran is a traitor that should be incarcerated for treason. Less than two decades ago, he personally wanted to arm Iran. By his own logic, there is no greater betrayal than this!
