VIDEO: She Will Never Walk, But What Happens When NHL Player Takes Her On The Ice? Heart Melting

Cammy Babiarz is a five year old girl who was born with Rett syndrome. this is a disease to take away an individual’s ability to speak and walk. Cammy actually communicates with people using a computer system, called Tobii. Additionally, she has developed a basic communication code with her parents, looking at a person to say yes and looking away to say no. However, she has been able to make abundantly clear that she is a major fan of the Blackhawks, Chicago’s professional hockey team.

Her mom and dad heard about the team’s #WhatsYourGoal campaign and sent in a picture of their daughter, along with a description of how she wanted to meet Duncan Keith, who was her favorite player on the team. A few days later, the family was invited to visit the team’s practice facility. When they got there, Duncan Keith walked through the door, surprising everyone tremendously, especially Cammy.

Cammy used Tobii to chat with the athlete, and then he gave her a team jersey along with skates. The family was invited to go out to the ice with him, and Cammy was harnessed to Duncan Keith when he helped her score her very first goal. Cammy’s dad said to Yahoo Sports, “It’s a day we’ll never forget.”

Cammy’s parents, as well as their daughter, will treasure this memory forever. Additionally, they hope that the story helps raise awareness about Rett Syndrome, in order to help research efforts to improve treatment and even find a cure.
