VIDEO: She Was Sick And Tired Of Constant Pet Hair In Her Laundry. What Did She Do? GENIUS!

Melissa of Clean My Space shows in her Youtube video how to manage pet hair. While extra cleaning time is required, there are ways to reduce labor.

For hardwood floors, switch to an electrostatic dust mop instead of a vacuum. Vacuums send hair flying, whereas a microfiber cloth will attract pet hair.

For carpet, dust baking soda on carpet before vacuuming. It will loosen hair from carpet fibers and help deodorize. Then vacuum using three passes: forward, back, and forward on an angle. If carpet edges are darkened, take a rubber glove, wet it, and drag a finger across where the carpet meets the baseboard.

A microfiber cloth with a spritz of water can also be used on non-upholstered furniture. For pet hair on upholstered furniture, find something with a bit of a drag to it, such as a damp squeegee or sponge. Rub it along upholstery and watch hair come up.

Minimize pet hair on freshly laundered clothes with a few extra steps. Pretreat clothes by putting them into dryer for 10 minutes on a heat free, tumble only cycle. This loosens hair and softens fabric to release pet hair. Shake clothing before placing into washing machine to wash as normal. Once washed, shake again before putting in dryer. Make sure to use dryer sheets or balls to reduce static cling.

The surest way to decrease pet hair in the house is to brush a pet regularly. Brushing – and regular baths – will help reduce time spent cleaning.
