For most, animal videos have the innate ability to capture our attention and spark various emotions. Some are humorous. Others make us sad or angry. Such was the case with a mother cat and her kitten caught in a precarious dilemma. The youngster fell off a grass ledge down to a rather steep slope lined with loose rocks.
As the mother nervously paces back and forth or attempts to extend a helping paw over the ledge, the kitten desperately clings to the terrain.
Then in one brief moment, the kitten loses its grip and tumbles and rolls down the rocky slope to the bottom of a ravine. The sight no doubt causes many watching the event unfold to gasp in horror. At this point, the mother promptly springs into action. Without hesitation, she leaps over the edge and nimbly navigates the rocky landscape and reaches her young. She carefully lifts the kitten by the nape of the neck with her mouth.
As skillful as any human rock climber, the mother cat capably and effortlessly climbs the slope to just beneath the ledge. Still holding her baby in her teeth, she takes one bounding leap over the embankment and back onto the lawn above. The reunited mother and infant are seemingly none worse for wear.
