It is always great to be complimented on your cooking. This is particularly true when the recipe that you have completed has not required a lot of effort, but it is something that looks like it took a lot of skill to make, such as these onion flowers.
In order to prepare these, all you will need are red onions, salt, pepper, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. After you peel the onion and cut off the root part, you will need to cut the onion into slices. Cut it in half, and then cut across that to make four segments. Then, each of these into halves, so that you have eight pieces in total. Do not cut all the way to the bottom in any of these instances, as you want them all to be connected at the bottom.
Then, put the onions in a bowl, and drizzle 3 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar on top. Toss them until they are evenly coated, and then put them in a 9×13 inch greased baking dish. Take the rest of the oil and vinegar and drizzle it on top of the onions, and then sprinkle some salt and pepper on top.
Cover the dish with foil, and bake at 425 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes, and then put them back in uncovered for 10 more minutes. Allow them to cool. You will see that the onions will have blossomed into flowers.
