VIDEO: She Finds A Horse Dying Alone In A Field, Then Does Something You Need To See

In 2013 a starved, dying young horse was found by The Last Stop Horse Rescue, a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing horses. This four-year-old gelding was emaciated beyond belief, his bones clearly visible under his skin and his muscles too malnourished to stand.

They brought him into the shelter and dubbed him Bennett, meaning “little blessed one”, or Benny for short. He got a custom sling to support his body so he could eat and drink. He got round-the-block care from a specialized doctor who thankfully declared no underlying health issues. Benny was given constant fresh water, high quality hay and a mineral block to lick.

He became quite attached to his saviors and greets caretaker Joyce with a whinny whenever she comes to feed him. When other people heard of Benny, they became to flock to the shelter to help care for him and give him love and attention.

Others held a fundraiser and made donations to the rescue. The Last Stop Horse Rescue documented his journey to recovery on camera. After only twelve days Benny recovered enough strength to stand on his own, and within three months his withered body had filled out with healthy fat and muscle and his beautiful chestnut coat regained its luster. He was soon allowed outdoors where he could socialize with the other horses and frolic in the paddock. Benny has gone from a shell of a horse barely able to lift his head to a plump and healthy animal.
