Popcorn may be one of the most simple snacks to indulge in. After all, what could be easier than tossing a bag into the microwave, pushing a button, and waiting a few minutes until it’s ready.

There’s also a way that’s just as easy and delicious, without going that route. Start with a large pot, with a wide surface area on the bottom of the pot and a lid. For ingredients, you will need a half a cup of popcorn kernels, and a good amount of vegetable or peanut oil. Coat the bottom of the pan with oil, heat the pot at medium high, and put two kernels of popcorn into the pot. Once they pop, you will know that the oil is ready to go!

Add your popcorn once you know the oil is fully reay to go. After the first pop, start shaking the pot. To prevent burning, shake the pot 10 seconds over the heat, and 10 seconds off the heat. Once you hear more spaces in between pops of popcorn, that’s when you know it’s almost done. At this point the popcorn is more prone to burning, so continue shaking.

Once the popping is done, take the pan off the burner, and wait for any final pops. That’s it! Enjoy your home popped popcorn!
