Andrew De Leon is a 19-year-old singing prodigy. He too to the stage on the popular television show America’s Got Talent hosted by Nick Cannon. The panel of judges included Howard Stern, Sharon Osborne and Howie Mandel. He has an amazing talent that he has been hiding from the world, until his appearance on this show.
Andrew always felt like an outsider because of his choice of lifestyle. He idolized Marilyn Manson and dressed with a goth style. This is the first time he has ever sang in front of anyone including his own family. His parents were seated in the audience and have never heard him sing before tonight and this performance brought tears to their eyes.
Andrew used singing as his one and only outlet to release his feelings. He grew up feeling shy and having a fear of rejection, which explains why he kept his singing a secret.
Not only did he fear rejection, but he did also feared ridicule. The type of singing that he mastered was not what you would expect a goth person to sing or even listen to. Andrew nailed opera like a professional has been working with him all his life.
The judges praised him unanimously and agreed to send him to Las Vegas for the next round of the competition. He received a standing ovation from the audience. An audience that did not have a dry eye in the entire room. The miracle voice that he has along with the courage to sing in front of this crowd will allow him to go a long way.
