VIDEO: I Wasn’t Sure What She Was Spraying On her Pumpkin, But The Result Is Genius!

For many people the best part of Halloween, other than the free candy, is getting the house decorated in fun and creative ways. But the sad downside of that is how quickly your carved pumpkin masterpiece begins to shrivel, dry, mold and stink.

It’s still scary but not in a good way. There is no reason to be afraid because you can now extend the life of your hard work with these quick and easy tricks, or are they treats? Begin by selecting a fresh pumpkin.

It’s going to be around for a while so be sure to choose a good one. Once you have completed cleaning and carving the pumpkin, simply mix one tablespoon of household bleach with one quart of water in a clean spray bottle. Since you’re using bleach be sure to protect your surface with old rags or paper towels. Thoroughly spray the inside and outside of the pumpkin and allow to air dry for about 20 minutes.

It’s really that easy. When working with a whole pumpkin that will be used for display purposes only, liven it up and extend its life by wiping it completely using a paper towel sprayed with WD40. Your pumpkin will enjoy a new longevity and have a nice shine as well.
