VIDEO: His Son Was Killed In War. What His Doctor Dad Did Next? I Can’t Even Begin To Fathom

When a child is killed, parents will do anything possible in order to keep the memory of that child alive. A surgeon lost his son during a war, and he did something amazing that some would think unthinkable. There have been over 6,500 people killed during the war since 2014.

These deaths occurred during the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. When this doctor lost his son in the war, he knew that he had to find some way to honor him, so he decided to enlist in the Navy. The area of the Navy he enlisted in was the Navy Medical Corps.

This is a man who wanted to go to Iraq so that he could help other troops who have been injured. The only thing stopping this man from enlisting in the Navy was his age, but he could apply for a waiver. This waiver would take about a year to go through.

The surgeon and his wife were invited to meet President Bush. The man got his age waiver, and he was able to work in the Navy. He went to Afghanistan, and he was able to help save the lives of those who were injured on the battlefield.
