VIDEO: Handicapped Boy Was In Last Place, But What His Competitors Did Next Had Me In Tears

Colonial Hills Elementary School in Columbus Ohio was having a race for their school. This would seem like a pretty normal day at any school, but on this day it was a very special day.

Matt Woodrum, a student at Colonial Hills was told he could sit out the race due to him having Cerebral Palsy. Matt refused to sit out of the race. He wanted to participate and was ready and eager to begin.

The race began and the students took off running. Matt ran with all the drive and determination of an Olympian. One by one the students passed him and he began to trail behind. As he began to get tired, Matt’s gym teacher noticed what was happening and started running with him and encouraging him along the way.

Then his classmates saw him and came to run with him. You could hear them cheering, “Let’s go Matt, let’s go!” Just like you would hear at a football game. Before long everyone was running with him, and through to the finish line.

Everyone cheered as he crossed the finish line. This is what life is all about. Determination from a boy that wasn’t going to let anything stop him from finishing that race, and some outstanding people that showed him support and encouragement.
