VIDEO: Can You Spot The Octopus Hiding In Plain View? I Sure Couldn’t!

Octopuses, like all sea creatures, are absolutely mesmerizing to watch at times. They are so different from the animals that we are used to seeing on land, in the way that they move as well as their mechanisms for survival. Octopuses do not have many ways of causing harm to other animals, but they do have an impressive ability when it comes to defense. They employ camouflage as their main line of defense from predators. In fact, they have thousands of chromatophores, which are cells that make it possible for them to rapidly change their coloring so that they can better blend in with whatever is surrounding them, according to information from the Smithsonian Institute.

This is not all, however. Octopuses are not only capable of modifying their skin color, but they can also emulate the texture of whatever is in the background. They actually change the projections on their skins to resemble rocks or algae that may be around them. Octopuses can use their amazing capabilities to camouflage almost perfectly with their surroundings.

In this video, you can see just how well the octopus is able to blend in with its surroundings – that is, if you can see the octopus at all. You will probably agree that its abilities are impressive, and that it is hard to spot in the algae.

If you thought that these sea creatures were ordinary, you now see that they are anything but. They have this amazing ability that really sets them apart.
