Your average American citizen knows there is something wrong with our country’s politics. Those in power, though they try to ignore it, know the same. Bernie Sanders, Independent senator of Vermont, is here to not only point out the elephant in the room, but shoot it, cook it and serve it up just right.
In a what can best be described as an elder explaining the facts of life to children, Sanders broke down how Republicans have created the majority of the debt they now wish to make magically disappear.
He went on to express his dismay that the majority of the new wealth created over the last few years, during the country’s recovery from recession, has gone to the same 1% the Occupy Movement was created to bring attention to.
The onslaught continued as he brought up the canyon sized disparity between the incomes of your average American and the aforementioned 1%, the fact that we do not have universal healthcare for citizens, and the fact that we have the highest rate of childhood poverty out of all major nations. It is truly awe-inspiring to see such truth from a politician. One can only hope that his peers follow suit in not only acknowledging the truth, but moving forward to make change.
