President Obama has been reaching out to alternative news sources in recent weeks. His motivation is likely to tap into media sources used by millennials. This is the group of voters which he relied upon to get elected in 2008 and 2012.
However, the 2014 midterm elections showed that millennials are now defecting from the Democrat party to the GOP in large numbers. It isn’t that young voters are necessarily embracing a strong conservative agenda. Rather, they are driven by frustration over the lack of good paying full-time employment. In the president’s interview with Vox, he castigated the media for chasing ratings over substantive stories.
Presumably, he means the media is reporting stories about him that are not favorable. Hot topics such as the rising threat from ISIS and a nuclear Iran are not favorable to the president. Instead, he would prefer that Global Warming were given greater attention. In the president’s view, the science on global warming is so well-established that no one has a right to oppose it. Instead, the entire debate should be focused on how to enact legislation to curb manmade causes to the phenomenon.
This week, Andrea Tantaros, the host of the Fox News channel’s program “Outnumbered”, mused that residents of New York City recently had to remain indoors during a state of emergency declared ahead of heavy snowfall. The actual amount of snow was half of what was expected. As the left blames heavy snow fall on global warming, Tantaros said the people had to give up their freedom (of mobility) due to faulty science. This statement has roiled the left who believe that global warming is sacrosanct.
