The kegerator. A classic, and timeless tool possible of generating years and years of beer entertainment. Those of us who have ever had one, can appreciate the lifestyle benefits that accompany ownership of such a magnificent device. One couple recently decided that they needed their own kegerator, and set to work building their own in preparation for their wedding.
This device can be seriously expensive if bought from a retailer or outlet; some kegerators go for over $500. That is why this man and his fiancé decided they were going to save themselves some money and create their own kegeratorout of an old freezer.
The couple purchased the freezer for just $150, and they cut a small hole in the back and sawed a hole in the lid. They decorated their kegerator with corrugated metal and old barn wood to give it a classy look. They also applied a layer of silicon to bolt the tower, which holds the tap in place.
Additionally, they attached panels on three sizes of the freezer with Velcro. The couple then created a matching piece for the top of the freezer and completed their kegerator project by adding matching handles, Velcro and a catch for their taps. The kegerator has a cool vintage look, and their wallets are still mostly in tact.
