Donald Trump, the flamboyant and controversial billionaire presidential candidate, posted a series of provocative twitter statements during the recent Democratic debate, one of which insinuated Hillary Clinton is a criminal and he felt “sorry” for the other candidates.
While Trump has always been brutally honest with his social media messages, some saw Tuesday’s tweet storm as petty and brutish, especially in light of his past remarks about women and immigrants. Others feel that he is not qualified to be making comments at all and is confusing the Tuesday event with prior debates he has participated in. After all, the Democratic debate was both professional and civil, two things Trump’s experience from the Republican debate encourage for their candidates.
In the Republican nomination polls, Trump is leading the way at 23.8 percent with Ben Carson slowly closing in at 19 percent. Clinton sits at the top of the Democratic polls at 43.5 percent while upstart Bernie Sanders lags at a distant second place with 23.5 percent.
The 2016 election is still more than a year away, but it is clear that Donald Trump is in the race for the long haul and will say whatever he needs to to keep the media attention that fuels his campaign. America’s political system deserves real politicians with some semblance of sanity to aspire to the presidency – Trump is an egotistical maniac with no political experience and a big ignorant mouth. It will be a happy day to see him beaten.
