Cousins and friends Bill and Steve found an eco-friendly way to save some trees one greeting card at a time. And they had a little fun doing it. Back in 1970, Bill bought a birthday card for his cousin, Steve, for a paltry 25 cents.
The inside message in the card read,
“(save this card. you can send it to ME on my birthday).”
Well when Bill’s birthday came along, Steve did just that. Bill received the same card with his signature crossed out and replaced by Steve’s. Steve simply followed the directions in the card.
Not one to be undone by his friend, on Steve’s next birthday, when Bill needed to send a card, he simply took the same card and crossed out Steve’s signature, replacing it with his own. He then sent the card back to Steve. Obviously, these two friends appreciate each other’s sense of humor. How long did this exchange go on?
Bill and Steve kept crossing the other name out,resigning it and sending it back over and over, following the instructions in the card, for a combined 94 times. They have been exchanging the same birthday card for over 30 years. That is a true, fun-loving friendship.
