That Election Scandal the Press Has Been Waiting For Is Here: Trump and his Kingdom of Bribery

The 2016 presidential election has been extremely controversial, due to the strong personalities and political scandals surrounding the frontrunning candidates. Despite the many allegations against both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, the media has chosen to primarily pay attention to irrelevant fluff pieces. Instead of focusing on the undeniable fact that Trump has broken many laws, a lot of media focuses instead on his ridiculous remarks or his silly ideas. Though some have hinted that Clinton’s behavior has been corrupt in the past, many are ignoring the easily provable corruption done by Donald Trump.

A lot of the corruption seems to involve Trump’s business ventures and political dealings in the past. Trump himself seems to have no problem admitting to his bribery. At one point, he said, ““I give to everybody. When they call, I give. And you know what? When I need something from them, two years later, three years later, I call them, and they are there for me.” A basic examination of his organization shows that this happens quite a bit.

At one point, Pam Bondi, the attorney general in Florida, was leading an effort to stop a real estate seminar scam that was called Trump University. Despite many investigators pushing for the attorney general to bring a legal action against Trump, Bondi shocked many people by choosing to dismiss the allegations. Bondi has admitted that she decided to reach out to Trump and his organization to ask for a donation right before deciding on whether or not she should start a formal legal action against him.

Another case also happened with the attorney general of Texas, Greg Abbott, who later became the governor of the state. Just like in the case with Bondi, Abbott dismissed the investigators who advised him to start legal actions against Trump’s scams. Right after he did this, Abbot received a $35,000 donation from Trump.

In both cases, these supposed donations seem to clearly be bribes. More investigations into this have revealed that the money actually came from the Trump Foundation. In the situation with Bondi, part of the bribe was funds from a nonprofit organization made by Trump. Though it is clear that this is a case of unethical and illegal behavior, so far almost no one has been reporting on it.

While CNN and many of the other news networks continue to lead investigations into the Clinton Foundation and sling around allegations of bribery, nothing has been found to discredit the Clintons. Meanwhile, the provable incidents of bribery by Trump are being almost entirely ignored. There is no denying that the Trump University organization is a basic scam designed to steal money from unsuspecting people, and it is also evident that Trump paid the attorney generals of two different states to avoid any sort of legal investigation or punishment.

Sadly, this is just one of many examples that show how blatantly biased the media is right now. The Associated Press continues to go after the Clinton campaign and accuse them of all sorts of misdeeds while not even mentioning the very real and easily proved corruption of Donald Trump. This sort of behavior is ultimately harmful because it misleads the general public and makes it seem like Clinton is just as bad of a choice as Trump. While she may not be perfect, it is almost impossible to deny that she is a better choice just because she is not the one actively breaking laws and lying to the public. Having Trump as president would be disastrous, since he is fine with breaking laws and bragging about it.
