Brandon Marshall is a linebacker for the Denver Broncos. He is one of the many football players who is refusing to stand for the National Anthem in order to protest racial inequality in America. While these players have been getting a lot of support, there are many people who are opposed to what they are doing. Stephen Martin is one of those people. He is the owner of Prime Time Sports.
When Stephen heard about the protest, he immediately cancelled Brandon’s upcoming event. He was supposed to make an appearance at the store and sign autographs. Stephen explained why he wanted to cancel the upcoming event on his Facebook page.
He stated that he respects Brandon’s decision to sit down during the National Anthem. He also stated that there are concerns that need to be addressed. However, he believes that the flag and what it represents should not be disrespected.
Stephen went on to discuss how people put their lives on the line every day to defend the country, which is why the flag should not be disrespected. He also talked about how he attended one his friend’s funeral, who was a veteran. Stephen decided to give his store a makeover. He now has pictures of veterans all over his store. He also hosted an “Honor The Flag Event.”
