Having a baby is a joy. However, parents who have lost a baby may still be grieving their loss when they look at their newborn. Many couples battle infertility and have to undergo several treatments before they can conceive a child.
Some of these couples who manage to conceive children suffer miscarriages and stillbirths. Rainbow babies are used to describe babies who come after a couple has suffered a miscarriage or stillbirth.
Miscarriages and stillbirths used to be things that no one wanted to talk about. However, more people have been talking about this issue. Courtney Mixon met a woman named Autumn Shafley at Hobby Lobby. Autumn was wearing a plain black shirt with a decoration. The top of Autumn’s shirt had a rainbow heart, and it had the words “You are looking at a rainbow.”
When Courtney looked at Autumn’s baby bump, she realized that the baby she was carrying was a rainbow baby. Courtney also had a miscarriage. She told Autumn that she was sending a powerful message. Courtney told Autumn about the miscarriage that she had.
They hugged and prayed for each other. Autumn prayed that Courtney would be able to conceive a healthy baby. Courtney prayed that Autumn would have a healthy pregnancy.
