Holly Christensen is a mother to three young children, and a former oncology nurse. She knows firsthand how important it is for a child to have a happy life so she has started a project that will bring joy to those children suffering from cancer. It is called the Magic Yarn Project.
Holly hosts fundraiser events and workshops in order to make Disney princess-inspired wigs for girls who suffer from cancer. Children who get chemotherapy often cannot wear regular wigs because the treatment makes their skin very sensitive. Holly found out that the magic yarn is a great substitute for regular wig material because it can also mimic the texture of real hair.
Holly is working hard to help get wigs to cancer patients, but she needs more donations and volunteers. Even though she has attracted many people with her Gofundme and Facebook page, she still needs help getting the word out about her project. Holly decided to start the Magic Yarn Project after her own daughter was diagnosed with lymphoma, a form of cancer. She stated that she knew it would be hard for her daughter to lose her beautiful blond hair.
She also stated that a yarn wig would bring some much needed fun and magic into her daughter’s life during this difficult time. Holly teamed up with Bree Hitchcock to start the Magic Yarn Project. They now make Disney princess-inspired wigs for children all over the country. They team up with non-profit organizations and the families of children to distribute the wigs. Bree and Holly are asking for volunteers of all ages and donations of all sizes. All of the money that is raised goes to purchasing the materials needed to create the wigs and ensure wig delivery.
Bree and Holly will appreciate any help that they can get. They have have already created Anna, Elsa, the Little Mermaid and Rapunzel wigs. The mission of the Magic Yarn Project is to create wigs for cancer patients all over the country.
