Karridy Askenasy was at a Walgreens in Keller, Texas when something very unusual and interesting happened. The cashier apologized and told him that he would need to wait a little bit, because he was waiting for the previous customer to get her money out of the car.
Karridy pointed out that the customer was actually getting into her car and driving away. While the cashier, Christian, was obviously disappointed, he just took out his own debit card and paid for her purchase himself.
Karridy told him that he should take down her license plates and report her to the police, since there were cameras in the parking lot. However, the cashier told him that he did not want to do this, because the woman was buying formula. Karridy was impressed and wrote about this on Nextdoor.
What then happened was amazing. This cashier actually had two people come in and reimburse him for the six dollars. When Karridy came back later in the day, the cashier told him about this and how impressed that he was at these random acts of kindness.
He purchased a gift card with both debit card and cash, and told him: “I had many more neighbors reaching out to me, wanting to see if they could contribute. Before I knew it, I had $200 in cash from your neighborhood customers, who wanted to thank you.”
He then slid the gift card back across the counter and gave it to the cashier, who was incredibly touched.
