She Thinks She Has A Pretty Locket From A Thrift Store, But When She Opens It? Whoa!

All sorts of surprises can be found at thrift shops and antique stores. For example, you might find a great deal on a suit, or that one Ray Charles vinyl record to complete your collection. One buyer at the White River Junction Listen Thrift Store in Vermont found a beautiful locket for sale.

But this nice surprise came with a surprise of its own; a very strange and creepy one.

The heart shaped locket, which appeared to be sterling silver, actually contained the cremated remains of an unidentified person. The inscription on the locket read “Always in My Heart”, a sentiment that was meant to be taken literally it seems.

Attached to the locket, a short message confirmed that inside the locket was a tiny urn:

“May the solid brass urn contained in this locket hold the memories of your loved one keeping them close to your heart and bringing you comfort,” it reads.

Not even Mackelmore, creator of the funny and irreverent song “Thrift Shop”, could begin to make this stuff up.

The buyer promptly returned the macabre locket to the thrift store where it will stay until retrieved by its rightful owner. Staff members from the store even posted a picture of the locket on Facebook to try to locate the owner.

One employee of the thrift shop, Merilynn Bourne, said that some people have attempted to claim the locket for its perceived value, but the store insists on keeping it behind the counter until they can identify the real owner. Staff assumes that the invaluable keepsake was donated to the thrift shop by accident.
