Malissa Lewis knew that she was late for work, but when she spotted a black trash bag walking in the middle of the road, she knew that she had to stop to see what was inside. She works at an elementary school in Kentucky, and she decided to take some of the back roads to make it to work on time. Lewis has three children. When she saw the trash bag moving, she knew that it was odd.
When Lewis pulled beside the trash bag, she got her cellphone out to call for help. Whatever was inside the large bag was trying to walk. As Lewis got closer, the bag started to walk closer to her vehicle. It was able to sense that Lewis wanted to help. Even though it could have been something dangerous, Lewis tore the bag open to see what was inside.
A small black puppy was inside the bag. When the puppy saw Lewis, he started to wag his tail. He acted like he knew that he had been saved. If it wasn’t for Lewis paying attention to the bag, the dog might not have survived.
She later made a Facebook post about the dog being found on the side of the road. Lewis and her children took the dog to be examined and decided to keep the dog so that it would have a safe home.
