It is an extremely sad a true fact that, somehow, dog fighting still exists. All across the country, there are countless underground active dog fighting rings. As a result, thousands of pit bulls die every year from being forced to fight. What you may not know is that some dogs are thrown into the ring as bait dogs, used to increase aggression in the fighters. Precious was one of these bait dogs, but lucky for her, she was saved from that dangerous life and given a second chance.
Precious was found bleeding out on the side of the road in Los Angeles by a passerby who informed the rescuers at Love That Dog Hollywood of the struggling animal. When they reached her, Precious was severely underfed and suffering from life-threatening injuries. If she had not been found and treated immediately, it is likely she would have died.
Under professional and loving care, Precious began a two year long road to recovery. Her ears, which had been bitten off by other dogs, were repaired as best as possible, and antiseptic was administered to prevent infection.
Today, Precious is recovered and is a happy and healthy dog, maybe for the first time in her life. Recently, she has been adopted by her foster mom, Shelley, who can hardly bear to discuss the horrors Precious went through. It may have taken a while to get there, but Precious has finally found someone to care for her and give her the life she deserves.
