An Imgur user, Bunsandtots, recently posted on the popular site that she found a tiny baby kitten near her home as she was walking out to her car. Her excitement over adopting the little guy was put on hold however once she got a closer look at him. The kitten was not in good shape. She took the kitten, that she named Bane, to see the vet. The doctors did not give her much hope.
It turns out that Bane was only three weeks old. Typically kittens are not supposed to be separated from their mothers until they are at least eight weeks old. The doctors did not expect Bane to survive for much longer. Not only was Bane very young, but he was underweight as well. He weighed less than a half of a pound when he was found by Bunsandtots. In addition to being underweight, he was suffering from an upper respiratory infection, worms, fleas, and an eye infection.
The vet also told his new owner that being underweight meant that the little kitty did not have enough body fat to help him regulate his own body temperature which meant that he could not keep himself warm.
Bane’s new mom dug her heels in and refused to give up on him. She followed the vet’s instructions and gave him his medications, bottle fed him every two hours, and kept him snuggled close to help keep him warm.
Slowly Bane began to get healthy. His eye infection cleared up and he began to put on weight. After that his respiratory infection began to clear. When Bane went back to the vet for his check up, they were shocked. Bunsandtots said that the vet did not expect Bane to survive all his ailments. He is now past them and a healthy, playful kitten thanks to his new mom’s care and dedication!
