See Who Is Banning Teaching Of Creationism In Any Public Schools

The United Kingdom has banned the teaching of creationism in all schools. Previously the teaching of creationism as scientific fact was not permitted in state run schools but this has now been expanded to include semi-private free schools and academies.

Teaching creationism or any other dogma that goes against Science would be considered as a failure of the school to achieve the requirement of a broad and balanced curriculum. The result of violating this would result on all funding being withdrawn.

In science class pupils are required to be taught the theory of evolution and the teaching of creationism must never be presented as scientific fact. As well as creationism any teaching that that the diversity of life on our planet cannot be explained by normal biological process is not permitted. Such ideas such as intelligent design cannot be represented as factual.

Richy Thompson a campaigner for the British Humanist Association notes that the reason for this change in teaching rules is that “every young person is entitled to a high quality, broad and balanced education.”

Evolution is considered a topic central to biology and the understanding of the emergence of human life and the education authorities cannot allow something that is not scientific fact to be taught as such.
