The Animal Rescue Team in California were alerted to a wild coyote several weeks ago that looked like it could use some help. When the wildlife organization found the coyote, they found that she was blind. In addition to being blind, she had also survived a 30-foot fall into a dry riverbed, an accidental poisoning, and being shot in the head- which is what actually caused her to go blind.
When the Animal Rescue Team found her, she was in bad shape but lucky to still be alive. She was near death once the team found her, they had to perform CPR on her the whole way back to the center. However, she is a fighter. She pulled through and has slowly begun to heal from her wounds. One morning, the workers were in for a huge shock when they came around to clean her pen. Overnight she had given birth to four baby coyotes! The four pups were all healthy and nestled up to their strong mother.
The wildlife center will keep the pups with the new mother until they are strong and big enough to be released into the wild on their own. Once the mother recovers, she will be moved from the center to a wildlife sanctuary where she will be able to live out her days in safety.
