Tragically Al Molinaro, who is known for his role on “Happy Days” and “The Odd Couple”, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015. He died in Glendale, California as the result of complications from gallstone problems, and leaves behind a wife, son and three grandchildren. Al officially retired from acting 20 years ago.

He moved to California during the 1950s in order to pursue his career in acting. He stated that when he decided he was serious about acting, he got on a Greyhound bus and rode out to California. He got his career started by making appearances on “Green Acres” “Bewitched” and “That Girl”. He stated that he spent 20 years in Hollywood before he was able to get his big break.

He got his major break when he was cast as a policeman on “The Odd Couple.” According to Al’s son, Michael, Al remained good friends with everyone on the show until he passed away. Al joined the “Happy Days” cast in 1976. He remained on the show until 1982.

Al also appeared on the spinoff of “Happy Days” called “Joani Loves Chachi.” and owned his own restaurant, ‘Big Al’s’ which had several diners throughout the Midwest. He opened the diners along with Anson Williams, who was his co-star.
