OH HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN If you keep up with the news from the catholic church, then you already know what has happened. If you don’t, here’s a recap. Cardinal Raymond Burke is at it again.
He’s the one who’s been making all those remarks against the gay community. He’s also been making comments about divorce and abortion, all negative of course. Well it seems that Pope Francis has shut him up for good, at least for now. Burke has now been demoted to helping out the elderly. Which means he’s going to have less time to hate and more time to give.
This is not the first time he’s been shut up. Last year he was shut down by Pope Francis. He was heard making some pretty vile remarks. You would have thought he would have learned his lesson. Clearly he had not.
This is not the first time he’s made waves. He refused communion to candidate John Kerry because Kerry supported women’s rights to abortion and other reproductive issues. He’s been an avid hater against the gay community, encouraging church members to “cut ties with gay relatives.” What put everything over the edge was when he began criticizing Pope Francis’s decisions.
Burke was heard saying, “the church is like a ship without a rudder.” Now he’s been demoted to a ceremonial post in the church. This means he’s nothing more than “window dressing.” Perhaps now Burke will finally get the message and listen.
