Cold Lake, Alberta – This past Friday, two days after the terrorist attack at the National War Memorial and national parliament in Ottawa, vandals defaced a local mosque. Quite likely it was a discriminatory response to the fact that the killers in both of last week’s terrorist attacks were recent converts to Islam who had been radicalized.

That said, making a blanket condemnation of all Muslims because two terrorists converted to Islam became radicalized is as unreasonable as it would be to condemn all progressives because of the rioting caused by G7 protestors. As it turns out, the local community came to the aid of the mosque. While the vandals had spray painted the front of edifice with the words “Canda Go Home Go Home” (sic).

Some people tweeted a photoshopped image of the mosque with the words changed to “Canda Is Home Is Home”. As for the local community, they came to the mosque and washed the prejudiced rhetoric away. In place, they left the mosque nearly in its condition as it was prior to the vandalism. They also placed posters on the front windows reading messages such as “Love Thy Neighbor” and “You are home”.

Local law enforcement is conducting an investigation into the incident, but have not made any arrests as of yet. Members of the community spoke well of the Muslims at the mosque stating they are peaceful people. It only seemed appropriate that the community affirm that and come out in their support. It was a wonderful unified statement against any form of hate.
