What do you think is lying around in your attic collecting dust? For one Michigan woman, it turned out to be a lot more than old clothes and scrapbooks.

When Brooke Ellsworth began sorting through the attic in her family home that she inherited from her grandparents, she probably expected to find a few old trinkets and mementos. However, she found much more than that. It turns out that her grandfather had long been collecting old artifacts and tools that he found while working on the Ellsworth farm.

When Brooke took the items to local historians to be surveyed, it turned out that the items were over 5000 years old. Historians noted that it wasn’t common to find so many artifacts that old in one centralized location, hence suggested that an ancient settlement may have once lay on the Ellsworth land.

Instead of selling the items, Brooke and her family have decided to donate them to be displayed for public viewing to the local historical society. This amazing finding doesn’t just say a lot about the Ellsworth family legacy, but about the legacy of the entire time. Only time will tell what historians will be able to discover about the history of their town based on what Brooke found in her attic.
