Tyler Thompson loves being outdoors. He especially enjoys climbing and other outdoor adventures. One of the outdoor activities he participated in was commercial fishing in Alaska. This time encouraged him to enhance his Toyota Tacoma truck by adding a storage system and bed to use on his adventures.
Thompson has spent his entire life working on things and took some welding and wood shop courses in high school. He has always enjoyed designing and watching his ideas come to life by his own hands. Thompson began his new project by working on the main frame of the design and beginning work on what would be the drawer system. He attached the items with ball bearings from items he already owned in order to keep costs down and added extra locks in order to ensure safety.
Thompson used water seal on the wood to help prevent leaks and to protect the items inside the compartments. Many compartments were hidden throughout the new addition to hold an extra battery and gear needed for his trips. He also installed lights and speakers to complete the project.
The lights can be turned on by a switch Thompson installed next to the steering wheel in the cab of the truck. The final fringe benefit of the new storage system is once the bed is fully extended, it can be used as a table as well.
