We all realize that far too many animals die in shelters every day. It’s a sobering statistic. Cats, dogs, pigs, chickens and horses wind up in shelters from either abuse or neglect. Some shelters, strapped for funds, choose to eliminate them as if they were yesterday’s newspaper.

Other shelters designate themselves “no kill” temporary homes for these unfortunates. The little infant puppy pictured had a few knocks against him from the start. He was unwanted and left at a shelter that was NOT a no-kill facility. Inn addition, he has (what we call in people) a cleft palette.

In human form, we can elect to have plastic surgery when this occurs. We also, as a society, have raised our ability to accept people who appear different for one reason or another. Not so in the puppy world, where so many consider the flawed to be disposable.

Fortunately for this adorable little guy, it was requested that he be transferred to a “no kill” temporary home. From there he was adopted by a caring soul who saves unwanted animals simply because it’s a part of her nature.

This sweet little puppy has been loved and cared for by this Good Samaritan and has grown into a pet that would be a cherished addition to any home. He has paid back her unconditional love many times over, becoming a miracle for both of them.
