Bill Maher tweeted his fans a message that may serve as a heads up for the topics the political satirist will be covering upon his return from vacation.

One such tweet involved asking a cynical question about a New York Times article that referred to the terrorist group called the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIS) as merely being one of thousands of militant Islamic groups.

Admittedly, it is a curious way to refer to a cabal that has declared swaths of Syria (anciently known as Levant) and Iraq as being under their sovereign control. The group has acted with unparalleled brutality towards captured Iraqi soldiers. ISIS hasn’t behaved any differently towards civilians either.

There are as many as 30,000 Iraqi Christians and Yazidis, a branch of Kurdish Islam stemming from Shia & Sunni Islam, who were forced out of their homes to a remote desert mount lacking food and water. Both are persecuted religious minorities that the UN fears may suffer a mass genocide.

Now, ISIS has declared that it has beheaded one of two captured American journalists by the name of James Wright Foley.

It was this latest incident that Maher cynically asks why we keep referring to all religions as being alike. Could it be that Maher, who has often expressed his disdain of Evangelical Christians, is finally realizing that great threat to America is not the Tea Party, but rather militant Islamists?

It may be a stretch to believe he will swing that far to the middle, but he certainly is outraged over a fellow journalist losing his life at the hands of terrorist thugs.
