One day a man was staring at his lawn and a complaint crossed his mind. What good is this lawn if it doesn’t provide dinner- the lawn was just plain boring. So the man decided to do something to remedy it.
His sixty day project started by building several wood boxes on his front lawn. The neighbors had to have been wondering what this guy was up to. He then filled the boxes with compost that his city was giving away for free. He planted a variety of seeds and when they started to grow tall, he was ready with support systems to ensure that they would reach new heights.
Taking it a step further than the standard garden, an irrigation system was set up so that all of the plants were properly watered on a continual basis. After all of the basic planting was finished, the man did some landscaping by adding mulch and cinder blocks.
Finally the produce began to ripen and be ready to pick starting with arugula, spinach, beets, and more. The garden was such a success that not only did the man get his fresh dinner and interesting yard but also an abundance of produce that he freely shared with his neighbors.
