A report that was done by “Teen Vogue” showed that Planned Parenthood supporters gathered around Paul Ryan’s office to deliver petitions from supporters. The petitions were to stop the Republicans from defunding Planned Parenthood. They are also asking the Republicans to protect Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood. There were security guards in front of Paul Ryan’s office in order to prevent the petitions from being delivered.
They petitioners decided to start a hashtag on Twitter saying #PaulRyanSoScared. One person stated that if Paul Ryan was brave enough to take away women’s health care, then he should be brave enough to meet them them face-to-face. Another person stated that Paul Ryan refused to meet the Planned Parenthood protesters because he was scared.
Jennifer Gerson Uffalussy, who is a writer for “Teen Vogue”, has cleared up some misconceptions that many people have about Planned Parenthood. She stated that Planned Parenthood is not actually funded by the federal government.
She stated that Planned Parenthood gets funds through reimbursements from state and federal programs that provide health insurance to low-income people. Jennifer also stated that federal funds have not been used to pay for abortion ever since 1976. Additionally, she stated that abortion is not covered by Medicaid.
