Only In Georgia: School-Teacher Fired For Racist Facebook Rants About Michelle Obama

A Georgia teacher has lost her job over racist remarks she posted on her personal Facebook page. Jane Wood Allen was fired on Monday after Forsyth County Schools was informed of her posts, which were made over a period of five weeks and reported by several concerned parents.

The controversy started on August 27 when Allen referred to Michelle Obama as a “gorilla” and called her the worst first lady the country ever had. In a September 30 message, Allen attacked the first lady again by saying she needed a makeover and asking her what she would do now that her vacations were no longer being paid for.

In addition, Allen wrote numerous posts that linked to conservative websites, mocked a black child’s first name and repeatedly told Muslims to leave the United States because they have no business being here.

A spokesperson for Forsyth County Schools, which has launched an investigation, said that Allen’s views do not reflect those of the district, and there would be extensive training sessions for other teachers regarding racism. The spokesperson emphasized that racism and discrimination are not tolerated within the district, and those are not the values that are taught to the students.
