Kim Davis the notorious county clerk who refused marriage licenses to gay couples because of her own religious beliefs. She broke the law is a selfish act of religious intolerance. Now, she is also now refusing to comply with the Kentucky Open Records Act (KORA) which requires that agencies provide original format documents upon request.
In this case, Davis has refused to provide emails requested by the news site MuckRock. KORA stipulates that if a reasonable fee is paid, an agency must hand over any requested documents in an electronic format. Davis has stalled this process by insisting the emails be copied, printed and snail-mailed instead of just forwarded. Thus muddying the trail of her increasingly extensive crimes against the constitution.
She also said the task requires a great deal of paper and time that will require 40 hours of work at $12.50 per hour. Each copy would cost 10 cents, and the postal fee would be about $100. All of this is, of course, unnecessary as emails are digital files need no converting before being sent. Davis is just being her old snake-like self. Her excuse is to claim to be “old school” in regards to email and electronic communication, even though she uses it at work on a daily basis.
Shawn Musgrave, who works for MuckRock and made the document request under KORA, said he will continue to ask for the emails despite the obstinate stalling by Davis. The law is on his side, and obviously, Davis has something to hide. It is only a mater of time before this curmudgeonly old bigot pushes the boundary of the law too far, and is removed disgracefully from her position as federal clerk. The world can only pray.
